WEAPON #1: The Word of God.
When we declare the Word of God. Jeremiah 1:12 says “He watches over it to perform it.” Often, we pray out of our heart, mind and emotions. But truly effective prayer is when we know His Word and speak it back to Him and to the enemy we face. That is when we can go into His Presence with boldness and confidence.

WEAPON # 2: A Prayer-Filled Life.
We must stay prayed up and ready.

Jesus is our example. When the disciples prayed for a boy who was ill and insane, they could not cure him. They brought him to Jesus who immediately healed him. Perplexed the disciples asked why they couldn’t. Jesus told them, “This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer” (Mark 9:29). But note, as we read that story in scripture, Jesus didn’t pull away to pray before He cast the demon out of the boy. Yet the boy was cured at once.
It's because Jesus lived a prayer-filled life. And so must we if we are going to see that kind of breakthrough. And we are going to need it in the days ahead.

When I find myself in a crisis, I get alone with God to pray until He speaks a Word—a scripture to me—on which to stand. I ask the Holy Spirit for something specific for that moment and battle. Once He speaks it to me, then I take it, stand on it and don’t let it go.
3 Levels of Butt-Kicking Prayer
Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

1. Ask is the word aiteō which means: To beg, crave or call for.
2. Seek is the word zēteō which means: to desire, to endeavor to enquire, to worship.
3. Knock is the word krouō which means: to rap—and keep rapping.

These represent three different levels of intensity in prayer.

ASK, is the entry point where we cry out to God for help. But if we don’t get an answer, then we need to press into the next level. SEEK goes past calling out for an  answer. It expresses desire and a sacrifice to worship even in the  midst of our desire/need for an answer to prayer.

The last is the most intense level of prayer. It is KNOCK. This is a continuous action that doesn’t stop. Not just tapping once and saying, “Oh well, no one is home” if there isn’t an answer. It is where we learn to contend.

WE MUST CONTEND
To contend is the word rîyb which means to grapple, wrangle, strive for, defend, hold a controversy. We find this word in Micah 6:1.

Jacob contended with God to bless him. In Genesis 32:24 it says Jacob grappled/wrestled (âbâq) with God until he received the blessing.

These are our weapons of warfare to win the battle in prayer. We need to learn to press in and pray without letting go and like Jacob, until we receive our answer.
Then Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until daybreak...Then he said, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking.” But he said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” Genesis 32: 24, 26 NASB

GOD’S WILL OR NOT?
There are times when I know I am praying God’s will, but I don’t see an immediate answer. It is there where we must make some choices. We can grow discouraged and stop. Or we can tell ourselves that it must not be God’s will.

OR we can contend and keep knocking—until we bust the door down.

I’ve said this before, but it merits saying again. Just because you don’t see an immediate answer to prayer doesn’t mean it isn’t God’s will. It may mean:

1. Not now.
2. We need to increase in our faith.
3. We need to contend for breakthrough.

Let me encourage you that we are entering a season in which each of us must contend to hear God’s voice and learn how to  contend for breakthrough. We cannot depend on someone else to do the heavy lifting in prayer, but learn how to go into the courts  of heaven ourselves, with our weapon—the Word of God—to get our answer. Whether your prayer request is for healing, finances, multiplication of food, protection, salvation for a loved one, etc. we all need to go up to a higher level in prayer.

Let’s not wait until we are in the middle of crisis to learn these lessons. Let’s take our weapons—His Word and prayer--into these battles now.

If you are in a battle without a weapon, you can change that immediately and begin to speak His Word into your situation. Go past the ask, to the seek and finally to the knock if need be. And then be willing to kick the door in if He says to.

In Christ,

GIVING OPPORTUNITY

GIVING OPPORTUNITY: CHILDREN'S HOPE

Through no fault of their own, a child’s living conditions can be desperate, sometimes without running water and proper sanitation. Many have little hope of a good education.
We provide for children’s basic needs of clothing, food, shelter, and education. Sometimes we even provide special help with needed medical procedures. Opportunities vary from place to place, but we love, build up, and inspire these children in need regarding their worth to us and to God. Many of their family members and teachers accept Jesus as a result of our ministry to these kids.
Fall sponsorship for our two Chinese children’s tuition, clothing, food & housing has been provided, but we still need $2,000 to cover the spring semester next year.
