Are you facing a battle that is bigger than you? A challenge that feels far above your pay grade?

When we contend for what is on God’s heart, there will be spiritual pushback. Why? Because we have joined ourselves with God’s plan which makes us a wall standing in the way of intended chaos. Knowing that a spiritual    attack may result from our prayers or taking a stand for Christ, makes some people back away when a storm hits as a result. I mean, why invite a fight?

But we should look at it from a different angle. Each battle we encounter is an opportunity for victory to go to a higher level and take more ground.

Most of us are facing a battle bigger than we are.

WHAT TO DO WITH IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS
So what do we do when facing an impossible situation? That’s the time we go to God and get His word about it.

Rather than declare and repeat the situation, which will only create fear, choose to declare the Word of the Lord and His victory over the situation. What we declare is what will fill our mind and heart. If we repeatedly speak only the problem, we will not be able to walk in the realm of His manifest victory.

I have never faced a major battle that I didn’t shut myself in a room with my Bible and journal and wait to hear from God. Every time I have done that, He has revealed a life-giving Word and given me a specific scripture(s) that became the anchor to hold on to until we could see the victory.

In each case, there were situations in which victory seemed impossible. In fact, several times others told us it was impossible. And yet, victory came because it wasn’t by our might or power, but His.

My friend Kim Potter, (A New Thing Ministries) shared an important insight that I want to pass on to you because it is significant regarding Mark 4:39.

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

You are probably familiar with that verse, but are you? Let me share its powerful truth.

Jesus and his disciples were crossing the sea when a fierce storm arose. Jesus was actually sleeping. The disciples were in a panic and convinced they were going to die as the storm was so fierce. How could Jesus sleep through that? Perhaps because in His world, storms held no power. That is where we need to learn to live.

The disciples couldn’t understand it and asked if He cared for their safety! Sometimes when God doesn’t respond as we think he should, we get miffed as well. But here is the power. Jesus rose up and rebuked the wind, the waves, and the storm with His words commanding, “Peace, be still.” It says, instantly, the storm stopped and there was a great calm which settled over the water.

The word for “peace” in that scripture, is not like the Hebrew word “shalom” (nothing missing, nothing broken). It is the word pronounced “see-o-pah’-o.” This is where I want your full attention.

When Jesus spoke the word “see-o-pah’-o” he was telling the storm to SHUT UP and STOP!  That word means “the inability to speak, silence, hush, to calm down and involuntary stillness.” Think about that last definition—an INVOLUNTARY stillness. That storm may not have wanted to stop, but it had no authority to continue because Jesus spoke peace to it and told it to shut up and stop—and it had to stop.
 
Now consider where scripture reveals that you and I can and should do even greater things than Jesus did. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father (John 14:12).

That means WE can speak to the storms of our life and tell them to SHUT UP and STOP!

But we can only do that when we view our battle seated with Him in heavenly places, as a son or daughter of God with authority.

Whatever battle, challenge, or crisis you are in, I encourage you to view it from your heavenly identity, seated with Christ. Not as a grasshopper, but a giant killer. We are to operate from a different realm. Know who you are in Christ. Know that He says that nothing is impossible with Him. NOTHING.

If you are in a situation that is too big, too heavy, and too hard, remember who He is in you and the power He has given you. Remember that He spoke to the storm and told it to not just stop, but be SILENT and immediately a calm came over what just seconds before had been life-threatening chaos.

Speak to your storm. Take your seat of authority and remember that His words created the world, and so our words also create the world in which we live. Speak the Word—speak to your storm.
