The Path to Your Destiny

When the Holy Spirit brings revelation into a scripture or promise of God, we have the opportunity to pursue it or just enjoy the moment and move on. One, provides a pathway to destiny. The other, a refreshing for a moment.

How many times have we read through the Bible and yet something new can jump out in a scripture we have read a hundred times? Pay special attention to those moments as they are Holy Spirit promptings we should pursue.

Wisdom and insight in the Bible aren’t hidden from us—but much like an easter egg hunt, we have to search for them. One clue here. Another there. Why? Because it's the journey that builds stamina and wisdom in us as we search the scriptures for what He is saying. That is what those insights should do—drive us to the Word to find out more of who He is and what He is saying. The Word will always agree and confirm something the Holy Spirit reveals. If it doesn’t, it was not the Holy Spirit that revealed it.

When God gives us a promise, it doesn’t mean it will automatically be fulfilled. Our destiny is tied to promise, but not everyone fulfills their destiny. Destiny is fulfilled in our pursuit of His call and purposes. It isn’t just handed to us. It requires we grow, and build spiritual muscles through prayer and study of the Word to be able to walk in the new thing He is showing and guiding us into.

MY STORY
Here is my story. It was over forty years ago when I began to get a glimpse that I had an ability to write. No teacher or employer had ever called out that ability in me. I didn’t know it was there. On the contrary, I had lots of negative messages from people in authority about my lack of worth. But thankfully, while working for a publisher I began to recognize that I had this ability. I hadn’t been hired to write, but to work as office staff. But the Word tells us, “A man’s gift makes room for him…”

I saw places in the company where things needed to be done. It almost always had to do with writing and publicity. So I began to do them. Eventually, the company created a position for me to focus in those areas.

Twelve more years passed before I felt the Lord prompting me to begin to interview people and write their stories. Those turned into my first two books. I did interviews with some very famous people along with the “neighbor next door,” people who had amazing testimonies.

Those projects developed a skill set in writing and interviewing which then opened another door to write for magazines and newspapers. That was a whole other type of writing which involved interviews, but with deeper investigative research.

All of that was preparation for part of what I do now which is investigative journalism in the political arena.

If you would have asked me in my twenties when that journey began, I would have NEVER imagined that it would take me here. Remember I didn’t even know I could write initially---now it is how I make my living.

But it didn’t come immediately or easily. It has been a building process of learning, developing,  …lots of work. I could have stopped at any point along the way and said, “God this is too hard!” But I just kept taking baby steps forward.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?
What is God calling you to do? Do you feel a prompting to begin to pursue something? Or do you recognize that you gravitate to the same thing over and over and you are kind of good at it? Because He works in the same way in all of us. He first reveals something to us—and then walks with us to help us develop it and grow it. But it is up to us to pursue it.

Years ago, a couple I knew received a prophetic word to “Get your passports and get ready to go!” The word they received was about stepping into a realm of ministry that would take them around the world. They never fulfilled that word. Was it accurate? Maybe…maybe not. But they never pursued it and so nothing ever happened.

Just because we received a “word” through someone or something by the Holy Spirit, it should first be tested by the Word and in prayer. But if we sense the Holy Spirit is guiding us in that direction, it requires we take steps to begin that journey. It won’t happen overnight and it won’t happen if we don’t do our part.

Our lives are that journey. What will we do with the time God has allotted to us here on this earth? Will we work to develop whatever is within us? That call He has placed deep in our hearts? Or will we spend our time wishing for something different, but not doing anything to get there?

ITS NEVER TOO LATE
I encourage you to spend some time right now and ask the Holy Spirit if there is an area in your life that you need to pursue, but haven’t yet. It doesn’t matter what your age is, it is never too late to begin to develop your gifts and pursue your call. Many of the great men and women in history did the most ground-breaking work of their lives after they reached the age of 70!!

That should encourage all of us that it is never too late to say “Yes” to God and follow His journey for our lives.

Father God, I say yes to your plan for my life. Keep speaking to me and leading me. Help me continue to seek you and your purpose for my life. Thank you, Lord for your kindness and patience towards me even when I don't deserve it.

In Christ,

 Kevin & Karen

PS - This week our team in Cambodia will be training rural pastors as part of our one-year training program. Pray for them to grow in their understanding of the Bible and ministry principles and for a powerful move of the Holy Spirit's anointing on them. Thank you to all who support this ministry, making it possible for us to serve those in need in Asia and here in the USA.

If this ministry is a blessing to you and you are not already supporting us in prayer and giving, please consider planting a gift as the Lord leads. All gifts are tax-deductible. Thank you!

How to Stop the Global Spread of Rage, Deception and Insanity

Did you know we can be infected by offense? It is a poison that creates deep roots in our lives which can destroy not only friendships, but our mental and physical health. There is a 7-stage “virus” that is clearly repeated throughout the Bible when people have taken offense. It is dangerous…but it can be stopped. This is one of the most important books you will read this year. $15 for one or $25 for two.
