What Does the Church Stand For?

What does the Church stand for? When placed in the context of the current events all around us, what does it (do we) stand for? If we have all the authority our Lord Jesus says that we do, then don't you think we should see much more positive impact on our society around us?

Shouldn't darkness be dispelled by His light in us? Do we have His authority or not? If yes, then why aren't we making an impact comparable to His authority and power?

It's wonderful to pray inside the walls of the Church or in the "safety" of our homes, "Father, Your Kingdom come, Your will be done..." But if we are not seeing His kingdom come or His will being done around us, then perhaps we as the Church are not standing up for His truth and righteousness as He deserves and expects. 

If darkness seems more powerful in this earth, the only reason is because we, the Church, are not shining God's light and walking in their authority and taking it where it is needed. Why are we as Christians afraid to stand up against unrighteousness? Why are we satisfied to allow injustice to continue all around us?

The articles below show how those who truly believe something are not afraid to stand up for it. The first for righteousness, and the second shares how those who are loyal to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), but are living abroad, aren't afraid to aggressively stand up for it.

(No, it is not acceptable that they literally attack those who speak up against the practices of the CCP, but my point is that they know what they believe in and are willing to stand up for it.) 

The first article is about a precious Chinese Christian who knows her God and knows that the leader of China needs Jesus--even if it means repeated jail sentences for speaking out about it. Believe me, if you ever go to jail/prison in China, there is torture and abuse involved. A prisoner has no rights in China. By her stand, It's very clear that she knows who she stands for even at the cost of her own well-being. Pray for her and others who are truly standing up for Jesus!

Lord, give us a much greater understanding of our identity in You and what that means to live it out in the world. Show us how to stand and make a real difference in our neighborhoods, our cities, states, nation, and the world.
