With Christmas just 5 days away, where is our focus? Last minute Christmas shopping? Grocery shopping? Preparing food for upcoming guests? Parties? 

It's so easy to be propelled by our calendars, rather than by our hearts and the spirit. We encourage you to take a moment to breathe. Take a piece of paper and spend a few minutes reflecting on the blessings you have experienced this year. 

Not feeling very blessed at the moment? 

A few days ago, I had a pretty rough day. Even as I worked to keep my eyes on the Lord, circumstances and issues were swirling around in my brain. Then I had a conversation with someone who shared about one of their family members who was battling cancer, was estranged from both of her kids, and hadn't seen her grandkids for several years. Even though her circumstances would make most give up hope, he said, she always held onto hope that God was going to restore that which had been stolen. 

After hearing of her plight, my "rough day" looked insignificant. May we keep our eyes on the Lord and our hope in Him. No matter what you are going through, His plans for you are good and not evil to give you a future and a hope. And we know that He said that we will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living...as long as we do not give up! That is a promise and future for each of us.
