Count It All Joy!
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, (James 1:2)
Today's news articles deal with religious persecution in China.
The first article is a well-written "feel-good" article about a Chinese Christian's "all things work together for good" type story. Please don't overlook the suffering she had during her ordeal though. She was a faithful servant of the Lord no matter what she was going through and we see the positive results after the fact for which we praise the Lord for. If I read the details correctly, she was only in jail for 15 days, but keep in mind, her husband had already been in jail for many months and is likely still in jail. Prison/jail time in China usually contains regular torture. We personally know one pastor who suffered in prison for three years in China and like the sister in today's article, much gospel witnessing happened in prison with many accepting Christ, but he suffered much and still has lingering health issues as a result.
The Apostle Paul wrote: "Remember My Chains" (Colossians 4:18), which is our call to remember those who are suffering for Christ. It's easy to "count it all joy" when we are rejoicing for someone else's victory through the trials, but we must determine in our heart right now, that no matter what's ahead, we know our Lord will be with us and will help us through anything we will go through for our testimony in Christ.

1. Father God, we lift up those who are suffering for their stand for Christ. We know that your Spirit is always with them. Help them to feel your tangible Presence as they face their trials. Help them to bless those who persecute and harm them. Fill their hearts with your love, just as your Son, Jesus did as he suffered on the cross. For the joy set before us, we commit our brothers and sisters and ourselves to you. You are faithful. |

2. Lord, we lift up those suffering from severe, widespread flooding in China and those who have lost possessions and loved ones in Maui as well. Minister peace and comfort despite the loss. Open the eyes of the people to seek you Lord.
3. Father, bless the rural pastors in Cambodia that are being trained this week. Draw them to you. Empower them through your Word and your Spirit. Bless their church members and their families with all they need to glorify you.
4. Lord, Jesus, bless all who are part of this ministry. Prayer supporters, financial supporters, and active team members, we lift up before you, that every need is met. That they walk in peace and joy each day. Use them to shine your light everywhere they go. |
