DISCERNMENT: Saves Lives in the Midst of Lies
Food shortages, brownouts, violence in our cities, an economic crash…All of these appear imminent, so what do we do?

I want to challenge you today, as I challenge myself, that we must be discerning. The Bible tells us that we must redeem the time and make the most of every opportunity because the days are evil (Eph 5:16).

We see the obvious evil. Regarding what is hidden is where discernment is needed most.
What if Eve had been more discerning? Or Adam? What if they had challenged what the serpent said as he twisted the truth?  Often we don’t challenge a lie because we are either afraid to, or we don’t recognize that it should be challenged. As a result, we don’t ask questions. We aren’t discerning.
 
Satan planted a lie in Eve’s mind by planting doubt.

“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” (Gen 3:1).

The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die’” (Gen 3:2-3).

Even though Eve accurately challenged the lie, she didn’t have a firm grasp of truth. Her response to Satan, saying they must not touch the tree, was never part of the instruction. Her erroneous knowledge created a door for deception.

“My people perish for lack of knowledge” is a warning for a reason.

We sometimes don’t discern lies, because we are unsure of truth.

As you know we have been repeatedly bombarded with audacious lies which twist truth. Adolf Hitler worked from the rulebook that people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it. History tells the story. Hitler went unchallenged with audacious lies until it was too late to stop him. Believers were afraid or didn’t understand Romans 13:1 and 2 (we must submit to all authority) because you must read verses 3 & 4 in context with it! Those tell us the kind of authority that God has established.

The same thing is happening again. Think back to the many audacious lies we have been told:
  • “You can keep your doctor.”
  • “The attack at Benghazi was a result of a video protest.”
  • “The 2020 election was the most secure in American history.”
  • “99% of people who died of COVID-19 weren’t vaccinated.”  
I could fill a page with the outrageous lies that have been handed to us on a silver platter. They are then “fact-checked” and parroted by multiple “big” media sources to try to make us question and doubt truth.

They are simply using Satan’s playbook: 1. State a lie. 2. Create doubt. 3. Discredit truth. 4. Repeat. This model works when we lack discernment and don’t challenge it.
FAMINE IS COMING – Truth or Lie?
The onslaught of fires at food processing plants, destruction of fertilizer plants and chicken farms along with the culling of thousands of chickens are a purposeful intent to create food shortages.

When these “coincindences” are brought to light an overwhelming number of big-name media “fact-checkers” rush in to say, “There is no evidence to support this claim.” This is where we must be discerning.

Evidence doesn’t lie. Mysterious fires have claimed over 30 food processing plants, the recent culling of over 23 million chickens and turkeys in recent months due to the claim of bird flu. And what about a fire recently in Wright County, MN in which tens of thousands of chickens were killed?

Doesn’t it seem strange how all these fires just happen to be destroying massive amounts of food & fertilizer?
Be discerning.

Political Campaigns
Or what about the campaign ads and flyers filling our mailboxes, radio and tv ads prior to the primaries and November elections?
Claims from both Democrats and Republicans and the number of audacious lies is sickening. It appears most of these questionable politicians follow Hitler’s primary rule. If you’re going to lie, lie big because they know the majority of people will read the lie, process the lie and then spread the lie.

With the two scenarios above, if we are not discerning, we may find our families lacking food and having voted in the politicians behind it.
This isn’t a word to fear, but to discern and prepare. We can either choose to stick our heads in the sand and pretend it won’t happen or we can be wise and discerning. It is important to take steps to be sure our houses and families are built on rock and not sand.

Without a miracle (and I am still praying for a miracle) the following will happen:
  • Food shortages will increase and become life-threatening.
  • Water shortages will begin as supplies are contaminated.
  • Increased violence in the streets—especially when Roe v Wade is overturned.
  • Power outages and internet outages.
  • Communication failures.
  • The continued devaluation of the dollar and increasing gas prices.
But remember, this isn’t a cause to fear. It is a warning to prepare and be alert.

When we see a natural storm coming, we prepare. So we should with this man-made storm. What if there were power outages and food shortages for several days, weeks or months? What if there is an EMP (electromagnetic pulse)? Are you prepared?

Adam and Eve did not discern the truth from a lie. As a result, they acted on the lie. Is history repeating itself? Let’s be wise as serpents, harmless as doves. Know the truth and the truth will set you free.

Practical Recommendations:
1.  Have a good supply of WATER on hand based on the number of people in your household. You need around a gallon of water a day per person. Reports of intentional contamination of our water supply is already occurring in some areas. Hezekiah built a secret water tunnel for his city. 2.  Have a FOOD supply on hand for a minimum of two weeks (much more if you can) in case of a disaster. Canned goods and dry goods are important. If the electricity goes out, your refrigerator and freezer stock will not last. If we experience food shortages, brownouts, etc. having a supply of long-term type food will be necessary. 3.  Consider growing your own food. This can be done even if you live in an apartment, you can plant a flowerpot garden. If you have a home, you can create raised beds or till a plot. 4.  Have a propane or gas grill to enable you to cook if electricity is your only COOKING SOURCE.

5.  Have an ACTION PLAN for you and your family if you are separated or unable to communicate. How/where will you reconnect?

6.  If the dollar continues to devalue and the stock market crashes what next? Both look imminent. Gold and silver has always been “biblical” money and its recommended that at least 25% of savings be put into these resources. 

7.  Know your neighbors. Discern who is trustworthy and who is not.
