I’m sure you are watching similar things happen in your city and state as well. It can cause us to ask, "God where are you?"
My heart is heavy. It feels as if the American flag should be at half-mast as we witness these horrific actions and the slow death of freedom and liberty. EXCEPT GOD.
Let us remember, however, that with God, timing is everything. It is no coincidence that we are in the week of reflection of the Lord’s betrayal, the Passover and the resurrection of Christ. It is a time of freedom from slavery. I believe now as then, timing of all that is taking place is no coincidence. While it appears evil has triumphed, we know what is coming.
May we not forget historically in this season:
- Moses and the children of Israel were freed from the enslavement of the evil Pharaoh.
- Esther and the Jews were delivered from the evil mandate to slaughter them. Instead what was intended to remove them, God turned it around, removed their enemies and put them in power.
·
- The evil actions of leaders who meant to silence Jesus, remove His voice and kill Him, was soundly defeated. Their actions became the very act that unleashed freedom. It destroyed bondage to sin, slavery and destruction.
In each case, while it appeared evil had the upper hand and Satan would prevail, the tables were turned and God set His people free.
And so friends, this week we approach His throne room of grace with confidence to find mercy and grace to help in time of need. God will do it again because He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He has shown us who He is.
As they did then, so we do now as we fall on our faces in fasting and prayer to cry out for deliverance.
Father God, Lord Almighty, in this time of distress in our nation and across the world, we still worship You. We declare that You are good. That You are in control. Even when we don’t understand, we put our trust in You.
We trust in You with all of our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. In all of our ways we acknowledge You and ask You to make our paths straight. Make the crooked path that America and the world are on, straight. Break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron that have held us in captivity.
Father You see what is happening. We are being enslaved by corruption. By ungodly officials putting into law ungodly rules and mandates, killing children in the womb and now trying to legalize killing them after birth. Appointing judges who have no fear of the Lord and no wisdom, who excuse the guilty and accuse the righteous. Who shake their fist at the heavens and declare there is no God.
Lord we ask as David did long ago, “Who are these ‘uncircumcised Philistines’ that they should defy the Lord Almighty, Your Word, and Your Name? They mock our Constitution and the laws of the land and work to subvert justice and truth at every turn.
Your Word says there are seven things You hate with a passion:
eyes that are arrogant,
a tongue that lies,
hands that murder the innocent,
a heart that hatches evil plots,
feet that race down a wicked track,
a mouth that lies under oath,
a troublemaker in families.
Those who have established themselves as rulers over our land, by their actions and their words, are all of those things. How long, O Lord, will You turn Your head? Hear our cry Lord and deliver us! We cry out to You as we reflect on Passover and Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross to break the chains of sin, death, and Hell. Deliver Your people! Free us from the slavery of sin and corruption. Lord do it again. Deliver us, Your people, from the evil “Pharaoh’s” who are determined to keep us in slavery.
We ask that You would not only deliver us, but as the children of Israel left taking the wealth of Egypt with them, so may it be that the wealth they have stolen from us be returned to us.
Lord You have said You set apart the righteous for Yourself and You hear when we call. You said that vengeance is Yours and that You will repay. That in due time their feet will slip, their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them. As You did it in the days of Pharaoh, Lord we put our trust in You that You will once again deliver Your people from the grip of evil rulers and their enslavements.
We pray for Your Kingdom to come, for Your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. That You give us this day our daily bread as we ask for both spiritual and physical manna. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us. Lead us not into temptation, but Lord deliver us from evil!
We declare Your Kingdom and Your glory will reign. We continue to pray for revival and that You would be glorified. Father God, we would have despaired unless we believed we would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. We take courage today and trust You Lord that we will see Your goodness prevail.
