Babylon is described in remarkable detail. Babylon affects the emotions of human beings – the “passion” of her immorality. Babylon impacted everyone from leadership (“kings”) and people of business (“merchants”). Babylon exalted herself and thus the system became one of self-centered ambition. Babylon exploited sensuality and materialism through deception. Chapter 18:11-19 details a significant number of material objects that were highly sought after; precious metals, gems, fine fabrics, exotic items made from wood, marble, metals and so forth. The culinary realm had become idolized: spices, incense, perfume and ingredients used in cooking; the trading of cattle, horses, and vehicles of all kinds. The list is crowned with the most despicable of all human trading; human souls sold as slaves; making human beings into objects of labor and sensuality. This is the “world system” – Babylon.
The leaders of the world system promoted their dark work based entirely on deception. They lied to all of us. The demons of the dark realm withheld the truth about the glory of following the way of God and the fact that God had planned something far superior to anything that Babylon could ever simulate.
So, now you see that my former dilemma was solved when I realized what a great lie has been imposed on mankind. What a great relief it will be when Babylon meets the Judge and encounters His full wrath. I can already sense a magnificent wave of rejoicing sweeping over the entire Body of Christ. That Day will arrive with certainty.
